Onn Hafiz Ghazi pledges loyalty and integrity after being reappointed as Johor menteri besar, also declares July 13 a state holiday.
JOHOR BAHRU: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has pledged to continue carrying out his responsibilities with loyalty and integrity after receiving royal consent for his reappointment as the state’s chief executive.
In a statement today, Onn Hafiz expressed his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, for their consent and trust in allowing him to continue leading the Johor government.
He vowed to remain committed to advancing the state and improving the well-being of Bangsa Johor.
“I realise that every decision made from this point onwards will have an impact on the lives of millions of Bangsa Johor.
“Therefore, I pray that God continues to guide every step, grants me wisdom in making decisions, and strengthens my resolve to always be fair, trustworthy and sincere in carrying out this responsibility,” he said.
Onn Hafiz, who led Barisan Nasional (BN) to a landslide victory in the 16th Johor state election, also announced that July 13 would be declared a state holiday.
He said the special holiday had been approved by Tunku Mahkota Ismail as a gesture of appreciation to Johoreans who fulfilled their civic responsibility by voting in the state election.
“May every responsibility entrusted to us be carried out with sincerity and integrity. May every decision made continue to receive guidance and blessings from God,” he said.
BN secured a dominant victory in the Johor polls, winning 48 of the 56 state seats and retaining control of the state government.
