Sabah CM Hajiji Noor highlights housing, road upgrades and sports complex in Sulaman, countering opposition claims of no development
TUARAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has rejected opposition claims that no development has occurred in his Sulaman constituency during his eight terms as representative.
The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman stated numerous improvements have been implemented for residents’ benefit throughout his tenure.
“I saw the magazine ‘Sulaman Yang Ku Sayang’, and I truly love Sulaman,” he said in a statement today.
“The support from the people here has been tremendous.”
Hajiji emphasized his focus on bringing changes to Sulaman, including major housing developments and near-complete basic road access to villages.
He highlighted organized settlements in Mengkabong and Kampung Penimbawan where fishing households received free land-based housing.
“We are doing this to help fishermen who live on the water by providing proper housing, especially for the poor,” he added.
The Rumah Sabah Maju Jaya initiative represents another significant housing effort despite many awaiting completion.
Ongoing projects include the RM15 million Tuaran Sports Complex on a 6.07-hectare site.
Annual allocations continue for youth associations and small business support throughout the constituency.
Road upgrades feature prominently in Tuaran development plans, including the Bulatan Berungis to Batangan route expansion.
The Pan Borneo Highway project from Serusup to Binturu is expected for completion within two years.
Sulaman comprises one of four state seats within the Tuaran parliamentary constituency alongside Pantai Dalit, Tamparuli and Kiulu.
Early voting for the Sabah State Election occurs on November 25 with polling day set for November 29. – Bernama
