US launches fresh strikes on Iran as Tehran vows Strait of Hormuz stays closed and targets American allies in the Gulf.

DUBAI: The United States carried out two rounds of strikes on Iran and renewed a blockade of its ports, while Tehran targeted American allies in the Gulf and vowed the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed “until the US ends its aggression”.

Here are Wednesday’s latest developments:

90-minute strikes

The US military said it had staged 90 minutes of strikes that “further degraded Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz” where the United States is imposing a blockade.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on X that it had “launched precision munitions against coastal defence systems and cruise missile storage and launch sites on Greater Tunb Island during the 90-minute wave”.

Iranians killed

Seven hours of US raids earlier hit dozens of targets, the US military said, with the Iranian army saying seven personnel had been killed in a missile strike at a barracks close to the southeastern city of Iranshahr.

“US fighter aircraft, drones, and naval vessels launched precision munitions against Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, and coastal defence systems during the seven-hour wave to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian crews,” CENTCOM said.

Iran hangs protester

Iran’s judiciary said Mohammad Amini Dehaghani had been hanged after he was found guilty of taking part in anti-government protests at the start of the year. The judiciary’s press agency called him “a collaborator with the enemy”.

Briton’s term extended

Iran has added two years to a 10-year jail term being served by British man Craig Foreman for talking to the media, his son said.

Foreman, who was accused of spying, and his wife Lindsay were detained while in Iran during a round-the-world motorbike trip in 2025. Both were jailed for 10 years.

Bahrain intercepts barrage

Bahrain’s military said it had intercepted aerial attacks from Iran.

The military accused Iran of “criminal attacks” on civilians and said in a statement it had “succeeded in intercepting and destroying a number of the treacherous Iranian aerial attacks this morning”.

Sailor’s body found

The body of an Indian sailor, Heramb Karmarkar, who went missing after his ship was attacked off the coast of Oman on Sunday has been recovered, a seafarers’ union official said.

Hormuz to stay shut

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the United States ends its “acts of aggression” and warned that other regional oil export routes could become targets.

“Oil and gas exports from the region will either be available for everyone or for no one,” the statement said.

US targets attacked

Iranian state-run television IRIB reported that Iran’s army and the Revolutionary Guards carried out separate attacks on US targets in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain.

The army said it targeted the Al-Azraq base in Jordan with drones, IRIB reported. Separately, the Guards said they fired cruise missiles at a US military logistics centre in Kuwait and struck facilities used by the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
