MACC probes RM58.45 million procurement issue at UKM, examining documents and questioning five individuals after AG’s report highlighted serious weaknesses
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has launched an investigation into three procurement tenders worth RM58.45 million at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Zainul Darus confirmed the probe follows revelations in the Auditor General’s Report from July 2025.
“The investigation process included examining relevant documents and five individuals had been summoned to assist in the investigation,” he said in a statement.
Zainul added that MACC has opened a separate governance investigation paper to examine management aspects and compliance with procurement regulations.
The issue gained prominence when it was raised by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, during UKM’s 53rd convocation ceremony in Bangi.
Zainul emphasized MACC’s commitment to ensuring integrity and proper governance management across the country.
“This is in line with efforts to strengthen public confidence in the public procurement system,” he stated.
The Auditor General’s Report from July 21 revealed UKM faced serious irregularities and weaknesses in its procurement process involving the three tenders. – Bernama
