Selangor exco, officers ordered to aid flood victims

Selangor MB Amirudin Shari directs all state executive councillors and officers to assist flood victims as heavy rain continues, with five relief centres now open.

SHAH ALAM: All Selangor state executive councillors and government officers have been instructed to go to the ground and assist flood victims.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari issued the directive following heavy rain that has affected the state.

He said the state government is closely monitoring flood developments and water levels at dams.

“At the moment, the levels are fairly stable,” he told reporters after launching the Selangor Creative Economy Action Plan 2025-2035.

Amirudin said he is awaiting detailed reports on the current flood situation.

Relevant officers and exco members will be deployed after the State Legislative Assembly sitting concludes.

Five relief centres have been opened across four districts in Selangor.

The Social Welfare Department’s Info Bencana portal reported 110 victims from 30 families are currently housed.

Centres include Dewan Sri Sekinchan and Dewan Sri Bernam in Sabak Bernam.

Others are the JKKK Service Centre in Kampung Jaya Setia, SK Sungai Serai in Hulu Langat, and Masjid Al Falah Kampung Budiman in Shah Alam.

The state government will issue a statement later today on follow-up flood measures.
