PETALING JAYA: AmBank today has expressed deep concern after a video went viral showing a man believed to be homeless being splashed with water and kicked outside its Taman Maluri branch.

In a statement, today, the banking group said that they are “deeply concerned and saddened by what had taken place” and that “no individuals deserve to be treated in that manner.”

AmBank also explained that the security guard who was seen spraying water on the man was employed by an external security service provider appointed by the bank.

Meanwhile the man who was kicking the homeless man was believed to be a cobbler who had been frustrated with the victim.

“Regardless, we expect all personnel representing our bank, including vendors and partners, to uphold the highest professional conduct,” it said.

“We are also in full cooperation with the relevant authorities and it is our aim to prevent this from ever happening again.”

In the 36-second clip posted on Reddit, the homeless man is seen sleeping on the pavement when the security guard approaches, picks up a nearby hose and sprays water at him, jolting him awake.

Moments later, a man walks over and kicks the homeless man before grabbing the hose and continuing to spray him in an attempt to force him to leave.
