Malaysia emphasises youth readiness for AI era at Vietnam economic forum, focusing on ethical governance and regional innovation
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has emphasised preparing its young generation to lead in the artificial intelligence era at the 2025 Autumn Economic Forum in Ho Chi Minh City.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang highlighted this during the Youth Inspirational Talks: AI Generation NOW session.
His presentation titled AI for Regional Innovation and Connectivity outlined Malaysia’s approach focusing on ethical AI governance.
The strategy includes developing young talent through education, training and industry exposure.
Chang also emphasised strengthening a regional innovation ecosystem capable of driving digital-industry growth.
“I also pointed out that more than half of ASEAN’s population is under 35,” he said in a Facebook post.
“This makes the region one of the most dynamic and promising areas to drive future innovation.”
He added that ASEAN is well-positioned to become an interconnected and globally competitive innovation hub.
Malaysia’s participation in the three-day forum forms part of ongoing science and technology diplomacy efforts.
The forum also aims to expand bilateral cooperation with Vietnam.
Chang noted this aligns with Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair in 2025 where digital innovation will be key.
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation will continue playing a strategic role in technological readiness.
This ensures Malaysia can emerge as a regional innovation leader amid global technological shifts. – Bernama
