Sarawak installs CCTV systems in 18 schools with RM270,000 funding, aiming to strengthen security and monitoring systems statewide

KUCHING: Eighteen schools across Sarawak have received closed-circuit television systems to improve campus security.

The Sarawak State Education Department was allocated RM270,000 for the initiative, with each school receiving RM15,000 for installation.

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis confirmed the funding during a state assembly session.

He said the department will apply to the Ministry of Education for additional funds to expand CCTV coverage.

“This initiative aims to enhance safety and strengthen monitoring systems in schools under JPNS’ jurisdiction,” Harden stated.

He was responding to a query from Adam Yii Siew Sang regarding funding allocation and school participation numbers.

The GPS-Pujut assemblyman had sought details about the CCTV installation program’s scope and financial backing. – Bernama
