RM210 million allocated for North-South Expressway widening project

Johor’s Machap–Ayer Hitam stretch on NSE to be upgraded under 13MP with RM210 million allocation for improved connectivity and safety.

JOHOR BAHRU: The Machap–Ayer Hitam stretch of the North-South Expressway will undergo significant upgrades under the 13th Malaysia Plan.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi confirmed the project has received an allocation of RM210 million for widening works.

He expressed appreciation to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and the Ministry of Works for their commitment to strengthening Johor’s infrastructure.

“The meeting opened more room for closer strategic cooperation between the Federal Government and the state government,” Onn Hafiz said in a Facebook post.

This cooperation will focus on implementing federal road upgrading and maintenance projects throughout Johor.

The Works Ministry has conveyed its readiness to support the state’s development agenda, including road upgrades and critical asset maintenance.

These efforts aim to ensure smooth connectivity and user safety for more than four million Johoreans.

Onn Hafiz emphasized that such cooperation forms an important foundation for implementing structured, swift and high-impact projects.

“May all the commitments and outcomes of this discussion be translated into efficient and effective action for the prosperity of Johor people,” he added.

The meeting between state and federal officials took place on Tuesday at the Works Ministry office in Kuala Lumpur.
