Alam Flora on standby for potential floods in three states

Alam Flora deploys teams and machinery to tackle potential flooding in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Pahang, identifying 145 flood-prone locations across the three regions.

KUALA LUMPUR: Alam Flora Sdn Bhd has placed its operations teams on standby to address potential storms and flooding in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Pahang.

The company stated this move ensures swift action to clear drainage blockages caused by recent heavy rains.

CEO Shariman Yusuf Mohamed Zain said existing staff have been assigned to public cleaning works across the three regions.

This preparation aims to maintain smooth cleaning operations and waste management throughout the monsoon season.

The company is utilising machinery like the high-pressure jetter to clear sand, soil and garbage from drains.

This measure is being implemented in critical areas to ensure proper drainage system functionality.

Shariman reminded the public to dispose of waste properly and avoid dumping it into drains.

Clogged channels significantly increase the risk of flooding in affected areas.

Alam Flora is collaborating with DBKL, Putrajaya Corporation, Pahang local authorities and SWCorp.

This partnership helps identify numerous flood-prone areas across the three regions.

In Kuala Lumpur, hotspots include Jalan Rahmat, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and Sultan Iskandar Highway.

Other critical locations are Jalan Dato Onn, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Tun Sambanthan and Jalan Cochrane.

Additional hotspots comprise Jalan Chan Sow Lin Tunnel, Jalan Sultan and Jalan Puchong.

Areas like Jalan Cheras, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Genting Klang and Jalan Pintasan Segambut are also monitored.

Eleven areas in Putrajaya have been identified as flood-prone locations.

These include Jalan Tun Hussein, Jalan P8 near the food court and the road between Precincts 9-11 tunnels.

Other Putrajaya hotspots are Jalan P10A, Jalan P11/J5 and Laman Duta-Jalan Precinct 15.

Simpang 4 Petronas, Lebuh Wadi Ehsan and roads near PPAM housing in Precincts 16 and 17 complete the list.

Pahang has 125 identified flood-prone areas covering major districts.

Temerloh leads with 26 areas, followed by Bera (16), Bentong (13) and Raub (12).

Kuala Lipis has 12 hotspots, Kuantan (11), Cameron Highlands (nine) and Jerantut (nine).

Rompin and Maran each have six areas, while Pekan and Muadzam have two each, with Tioman having one location.

These high-risk areas require close monitoring and preparedness for any possible flooding.
