PETALING JAYA: Pos Malaysia Bhd plans to introduce electric three-wheelers for last-mile deliveries, subject to regulatory approvals, as the national postal operator expands its use of electric vehicles to improve delivery efficiency and reduce emissions.
The company showcased what it said is Malaysia’s first electric three-wheeler for last-mile delivery at its World Post Day 2026 celebration on Oct 10, saying the vehicle was designed to improve safety, increase parcel-carrying capacity and support zero-tailpipe-emission deliveries in densely populated urban areas.
Pos Malaysia said it planned to deploy the vehicles progressively within its last-mile operations, although it did not disclose the number of units planned, investment cost or deployment timeline.
The proposed addition would complement its existing fleet of electric motorcycles and vans as the company seeks to build a more versatile and efficient delivery network.
The company said one in every three parcels it delivered was already handled using an electric vehicle, highlighting the role of fleet electrification in its broader sustainability efforts.
Pos Malaysia operates a nationwide delivery network covering more than 11 million addresses, supported by over 3,000 touchpoints across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
Pos Malaysia said it was using data and artificial intelligence, alongside network modernisation, to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen delivery reliability and improve customer experience.
The World Post Day celebration was held under the theme “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities” and also featured the launch of a commemorative stamp, the Wira Award 2026 and the presentation of prizes for the KESEF 2026 Stamp Folio Competition.
Pos Malaysia said the initiative reflected its efforts to modernise its delivery operations while strengthening nationwide connectivity and supporting the growth of e-commerce.
