Sabah CM Hajiji votes in Sulaman, faces five-cornered fight

Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor casts his ballot in Sulaman constituency, facing five challengers including his nephew from BN.

TUARAN: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor cast his ballot for the Sulaman state seat at Sekolah Kebangsaan Serusup during the 17th Sabah State Election.

The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman arrived at the polling centre at 11.35 am accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Juliah Salag.

After voting, Hajiji paused for media photographers requesting shots of his finger stained with indelible ink.

He greeted other voters outside the polling centre including his nephew Dr Shahnon Rizal Thaijuddin.

Dr Shahnon is the Barisan Nasional candidate contesting against his uncle for the Sulaman seat.

Hajiji faces a five-cornered contest in Sulaman which has 18,352 registered voters.

His challengers include Mokhtar Hussin from Warisan and Tiaminah @ Siti Aminah Ele from Perikatan Nasional.

Pajudin Nordin from Parti Impian Sabah completes the five-way race for the constituency.

Hajiji retained the Sulaman seat in the 2020 state election with a 3,099-vote majority.

The victory extended his more than three decades of incumbency in the constituency. – Bernama
