Activist Rafidah Ibrahim and three others were released on police bail after being detained for allegedly attempting to cause a commotion at a project ceremony.
KUALA LUMPUR: Four individuals, including activist Rafidah Ibrahim, have been released on police bail.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said they were detained under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which relates to public order and safety.
The four were held for allegedly attempting to cause a commotion at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kampung Sungai Baru Redevelopment Project.
Fadil said investigations are ongoing and any updates will be provided later.
He stated that police always prioritise public order and safety at any event held in the country.
“If there is intelligence or any information we receive that may negatively affect public order and safety, the police will take action,” he said.
Separately, Fadil said police are tracking down another individual involved in the assault case of sports journalist Haresh Deol.
He said a suspect has been charged under Section 34 of the Penal Code for acting jointly, but investigations are still ongoing.
Fadil declined to comment when asked if the other suspects involved had been identified.
Haresh, the co-founder of the TwentyTwo13 news portal, said in a post on X that he was attacked by two men while walking to his car on Nov 25.
