Hoax bomb threat suspect detained at KLIA terminal 1

An individual who made a false bomb threat at KLIA Terminal 1 has been detained and handed over to police after security protocols were activated

PUTRAJAYA: An individual who triggered a hoax bomb threat involving a departure flight at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA T1) has been detained.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) stated the suspect was handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

The incident was first reported at 5.32pm yesterday shortly before a scheduled flight departure.

The Aviation Security team immediately activated required response protocols and secured the area.

They coordinated closely with the relevant authorities throughout the operation.

“Aviation Security, together with PDRM and the bomb disposal unit, completed a detailed assessment of the scene,” MAHB said.

Authorities declared a stand down at 8.58 pm, confirming the situation was safe and the incident was a hoax.

All passengers remained safe throughout the entire security process.

The affected flight later departed with its remaining passengers at 7.19 pm.

“Airport operations continued without disruption,” the statement confirmed.

MAHB reminded all travellers that making false threats is a serious offence under Malaysian law. – Bernama
