Advancecon unit wins second ECRL payment dispute

Advancecon’s subsidiary secures another RM3.33 million adjudication win against China Communications Construction for ECRL project work.

KUALA LUMPUR: Advancecon Holdings Bhd’s unit has won a second payment dispute against the main contractor for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Advancecon Infra Sdn Bhd (AISB), secured a favourable adjudication decision against China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd (CCC).

An adjudicator ordered CCC to pay AISB RM3.33 million plus interest at 5% per annum from Sept 4, 2025, until full settlement.

CCC must also pay RM100,000 in adjudication costs and bear all related fees from the adjudicator and Asian International Arbitration Centre.

The contractor must reimburse AISB for any sums it advanced during the adjudication process.

This follows an earlier ruling on Oct 7, 2025, where AISB secured about RM7.04 million in a separate ECRL-related payment dispute.

Advancecon group CEO Datuk Phum Ang Kia said the latest outcome underscored the strength of its claims.

“Although the impact on the 2025 financial year is not material, both outcomes affirm our entitlement to timely payment for completed work,” he said.

The company said the two rulings affirm AISB’s contractual position under major national infrastructure projects.

It reinforces the group’s commitment to ensuring completed works are properly recognised and compensated.

Advancecon said it will monitor post-adjudication developments and make further announcements as required.
