Flood conditions ease in four states as evacuee numbers drop

Floodwaters recede in Perlis, Perak, Selangor and Pahang, with the total number of evacuees falling to 4,062 people across 33 relief centres.

KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in four states has improved, with the number of evacuees continuing to decrease to 4,062 people this afternoon.

This is down from 4,604 individuals recorded this morning.

In Perlis, the number of evacuees dropped to 288 people as of 4 pm today.

One more temporary relief centre (PPS) closed, leaving three operational centres in Padang Besar and Arau.

Flood conditions in Perak have also eased, with 3,002 people from 872 families still sheltering in 19 PPS across five districts.

Hilir Perak district recorded the highest number of evacuees at 1,471 people.

In Selangor, the number of evacuees fell to 740 people from 234 families this afternoon.

The number of operational PPS dropped to nine, located in Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.

All PPS in Pahang’s Bera district have been closed.

Only 32 evacuees from seven families remain in two PPS across the state, with 25 people in Maran and a family of seven in Kuantan.
