Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin graces opening of Shah Alam Orchid Garden

Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin opens the Shah Alam Orchid Garden, a new tourism and educational hub for orchid conservation

SHAH ALAM: Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, today graced the opening of Taman Anggerik Shah Alam (Shah Alam Orchid Garden) in Section 14 here.

Her Royal Highness was met on arrival by Selangor Menteri Besar’s wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad, and Shah Alam mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim.

The Tengku Permaisuri later signed the inauguration plaque before visiting the exhibition area and the orchid glasshouse.

In his welcoming speech, Mohd Fauzi said the Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) initiative supports the city’s goals for a more sustainable and liveable urban environment.

He said the orchid garden, planned since 2000, forms part of the broader development of Shah Alam Lake Garden.

“The garden is intended to serve as an orchid exhibition centre and a hub for collecting diverse orchid species from Malaysia and abroad. It will also act as a tourism attraction and an educational centre for orchid lovers,” he explained.

He added that the garden will stimulate green development and encourage Shah Alam residents to care for and contribute to the city’s greening efforts.
