Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says enforcement must be precise, uphold the law, and protect institutional integrity, with no one above accountability
PUTRAJAYA: All enforcement actions must be executed with precision to uphold the rule of law and protect institutional integrity, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
He stated that the reasons and procedures for any arrest must be clearly and promptly explained when questioned.
“The focus is not just on enforcing the law but also on its implementation,” Anwar said at the 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day event.
He stressed that preserving the integrity of enforcement bodies is paramount when their methods are challenged.
Enforcement agencies must be bold and ready to act against their own members in cases of serious misconduct, he added.
This action is necessary to safeguard institutional integrity and keep the country secure.
Anwar emphasised that no one in his office or any agency would be protected from legal action.
“Whether it’s the Chief Secretary to the Government, the Attorney General, or Tan Sri Azam’s office, no one is above the law,” he said.
He acknowledged that fighting crime, corruption, and smuggling is challenging due to the vast resources of those involved.
Anwar noted that targets often have billions in assets and use their wealth to influence politics and infiltrate systems.
The government will maintain an open administration, welcoming complaints and feedback from all quarters.
Every enforcement action must strictly follow established legal procedures, the Prime Minister concluded. – Bernama
