Police receive audio CD linked to Durian Tunggal shooting probe

PDRM confirms receipt of an audio CD from a suspect’s family, believed to contain a phone conversation related to the fatal Durian Tunggal incident

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has confirmed receiving a compact disc related to the shooting incident in Durian Tunggal, Melaka.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the CD was handed over yesterday by a family member of one of the suspects.

He said the disc is believed to contain an audio recording of a telephone conversation between a suspect and his wife prior to the incident.

To strengthen the investigation, a special team led by a senior officer was formed last Wednesday.

Mohd Khalid said this step ensures every aspect is examined systematically and professionally.

He reaffirmed PDRM’s commitment to a thorough and integrity-driven investigation.

The IGP stressed that the force will not tolerate any form of misconduct.

He advised the public not to speculate or disseminate unverified information.

Mohd Khalid also urged anyone with information to contact the hotline at 019-376 4763.

On November 24, three criminals were shot dead after one attacked a policeman with a machete.

The early morning incident at an oil palm plantation left a corporal seriously injured.

All suspects were believed to be members of the Durian Tunggal Gang.

The gang was detected while on their way to rob premises and had been active since early 2024.

It is linked to 20 cases in Melaka and one case each in Negeri Sembilan and Selangor.

The gang’s activities reportedly caused losses amounting to RM1.35 million. – Bernama
