Woman drowns after MPV plunges into Sungai Muar in Tangkak

A woman in her 20s died after the Nissan Grand Livina she was driving plunged into Sungai Muar at Tanjung Agas, Tangkak.

TANGKAK: A woman drowned after the vehicle she was driving plunged into Sungai Muar at Tanjung Agas here today.

The victim, in her 20s, was trapped inside a Nissan Grand Livina multipurpose vehicle (MPV).

Muar Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Senior Fire Officer I Jahairi Shukor said they received an emergency call at 3.48 pm.

Ten firefighters from the Muar and Tangkak stations rushed to the scene.

“The firefighters were able to extricate the victim, but she was confirmed dead by medical personnel,” he said in a statement.

The body was handed over to the police for further action.

The operation ended at 4.40 pm. – Bernama
