Five national badminton players storm into the quarter-finals at the SEA Games Thailand 2025, setting up key clashes against regional rivals.
FIVE national shuttlers have advanced to the quarter-finals of the badminton event at the SEA Games Thailand 2025.
National men’s singles player Leong Jun Hao, the fourth seed, defeated Vixunnalath Phichith of Laos 21-15, 21-15.
He will next face Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul in the last eight.
Compatriot Justin Hoh caused an upset by beating Singapore’s third seed Jason Teh 22-20, 21-15.
Hoh is now set to play Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen.
In the women’s singles, K. Letshanaa and Wong Ling Ching both progressed.
Letshanaa beat Singapore’s Jaslyn Hooi 21-17, 22-20 and will face top seed Putri Kusuma Wardani of Indonesia.
Ling Ching defeated Singapore’s Insyirah Khan 21-16, 21-15.
Her quarter-final opponent is Indonesia’s Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya.
The mixed doubles pair of Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin also advanced, defeating the Philippines’ Solomon Jr. Padiz and Mary Destiny Untal 21-8, 21-14.
They will meet Thai second seeds Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran next.
The SEA Games Thailand 2025 is being held from December 9 to 20.
