Batu Gajah District Council signs three MoUs with private firms to manage used cooking oil and e-waste, supporting a local circular economy
BATU GAJAH: The Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) has signed three memoranda of understanding with private sector partners to strengthen sustainable waste management.
The agreements with Unioleo Sdn Bhd, Edsha Solutions Sdn Bhd and Biovisma Sdn Bhd focus on the systematic management of specific waste streams like used cooking oil and electronic waste.
MDBG secretary Muazatul Adawiyah Muhammad said the collaboration reflects the council’s commitment to a joint approach in tackling local waste challenges.
“The involvement of experienced waste management companies enables MDBG to implement more effective, organised and environmentally friendly methods,” she said.
She added this approach supports the development of a circular economy at the district level by adding value to underutilised waste.
The signing was witnessed by Perak Communications, Multimedia and NGO Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi at the Perak Clean and Healthy Programme.
Muazatul Adawiyah said the partnership aligns with the state government’s aspiration to promote circular economy practices and reduce landfill use.
Mohd Azlan Helmi stated the programme reflects the Perak Sejahtera 2030 agenda’s focus on public well-being through a clean environment.
“The main objective is to instil a waste-to-money culture through the Eco Green Market Programme and the adoption of the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle,” he said. – Bernama
