Media are strategic partners in state development, says Melaka CM

Melaka Chief Minister says credible media are key partners in development, not just observers, and help build a knowledgeable, united society

MELAKA: The media are a strategic development partner of the state government and not merely observers, said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said a credible and integrity-driven media helps shape a knowledgeable, critical-thinking and united society.

Accurate reporting and fair narratives strengthen public confidence in government policies and serve as a healthy check-and-balance mechanism.

“I hope media practitioners will continue to uphold integrity in information dissemination and wisdom in narrative-building,” he said at the Melaka Chief Minister’s Media Awards 2025.

He said the state government is ready to work closely with the media to disseminate authentic and responsible information.

Trust and professionalism are key to a healthy and credible information ecosystem, he added.

Ab Rauf said the awards recognise media practitioners who excel in reporting while consistently upholding integrity and credibility.

“Congratulations to all the award recipients tonight. Your dedication and commitment serve as a benchmark for an ethical and credible media landscape,” he said.

At the event, over 100 media practitioners from various agencies and digital influencers were honoured across 14 categories.

The Melaka Bureau of Bernama won two awards through bureau chief Mohd Fakri Awang Lah and photographer Muhammad Zulhilmi Daud.

Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj also received the Melaka Chief Minister’s Special Award. – Bernama
