Preacher and new deputy minister Marhamah Rosli takes her oath as a senator, with her term effective until December 2028.
KUALA LUMPUR: Preacher Marhamah Rosli was sworn in as a senator before Senate president Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah this afternoon.
Her appointment follows her recent selection as the new Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs).
Awang Bemee said the appointment was made by the King under Article 45(1)(b) of the Federal Constitution.
He added that her term takes effect from today and will run until December 15, 2028, in accordance with Articles 45(3) and 45(3A).
“On behalf of the Senate, I extend my highest congratulations to the Senator on this appointment,” Awang Bemee said in his welcoming speech.
He also wished her well in carrying out her responsibilities.
The swearing-in ceremony occurred on the same day Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim unveiled a reshuffle of the MADANI Government.
The reshuffle featured a mix of portfolio realignments and new appointments.
