Netflix to launch exclusive FIFA World Cup game in 2026

Netflix will release a FIFA football simulation game in summer 2026, developed by Delphi Interactive and included with a standard subscription

NETFLIX will release an exclusive FIFA football simulation game on its gaming platform in summer 2026.

The streaming giant announced the game will launch to coincide with the FIFA World Cup that year.

The title is being developed and published by Los Angeles-based studio Delphi Interactive.

It will be available to all Netflix subscribers and can be played solo or online using only a smartphone.

Delphi Interactive is also working on a premium James Bond game with Amazon and Danish publisher IO Interactive.

The upcoming FIFA game does not yet have a final title or specific release date.

More details about the game will be announced in 2026, according to the company.

“The FIFA World Cup is going to be the cultural event of 2026, and now fans will be able to celebrate their fandom by bringing the game right into their living rooms,” said Alain Tascan, president of games at Netflix.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the game aspires “to reach billions of football fans of all ages everywhere in the world.”

Infantino called the partnership “a great historic step for FIFA.”

The game’s launch comes three years after FIFA removed its name from the world’s best-selling football video game series.

FIFA had dominated the console market for PlayStation and Xbox games for nearly three decades.

Its long partnership with US creator EA Sports ended in 2022 over a dispute about licensing fees.

Earlier this year, FIFA launched a separate free-to-play mobile game called FIFA Rivals.

Netflix began offering video games in 2021 to expand its entertainment ecosystem beyond films and TV series.

Its gaming service offers a catalog of mostly mobile titles included with a standard Netflix subscription. – AFP
