DVS hit with 2,000 complaints over animal neglect case

The Department of Veterinary Services has received 1,920 complaints and is investigating a viral case of alleged animal neglect at a Selangor veterinary clinic.

PUTRAJAYA: The Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) has received a total of 1,920 complaints over alleged animal neglect at a veterinary clinic in Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya.

The Selangor DVS enforcement team has summoned an individual suspected of involvement to record a statement under Section 112 of the Penal Code.

Investigations are continuing to identify and trace additional witnesses based on viral video footage circulating online.

Yesterday, DVS Animal Welfare Officers discovered the carcasses of a cat and a dog in separate cages at the premises.

Both carcasses were sent to the Central Zone Veterinary Laboratory in Sepang for post-mortem examinations.

Videos and images showing a dead dog and cat at the poorly maintained clinic went viral on social media earlier this week.
