Kedah police arrest a 48-year-old man, seizing 75kg of methamphetamine worth RM2.4 million, a pistol, and bullets at a toll plaza.
ALOR SETAR: Police arrested a man and seized 75 kilogrammes of methamphetamine worth RM2.4 million at the Hutan Kampung toll plaza.
Kedah police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah (pic) said the 48-year-old suspect was arrested at about 5 am yesterday.
Police found four gunny sacks filled with 75 packs of methamphetamine in his four-wheel drive vehicle.
An automatic pistol and 12 live bullets were also seized during the operation.
“During his arrest, the suspect acted aggressively and refused to come out of his vehicle, leading a police personnel to break the vehicle’s window,” Adzli told reporters.
He added that the suspect was a transporter offered RM15,000 to ferry the drugs from Perlis to Butterworth, Penang.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act and the Arms Act 1960.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days until December 28 as police track down three more individuals.
A BMW X5, a Kawasaki ZR800 and RM500 in cash were also confiscated.
In a separate development, Adzli shared that two men were arrested for a snatch theft.
A 23-year-old man and his 46-year-old father-in-law were arrested at 2 am on December 20 for a theft reported by an international student.
The younger suspect has three prior criminal records relating to drug offences.
His father-in-law has 12 prior records, mostly for cable theft, and is believed to have disposed of stolen items in Sungai Kedah.
Both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and the case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code.
