No plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
He is accused of murdering Hayani Yaakob, 51, and a six-year-old girl at a house in Taman Teluk Air Tawar at 9.45 am on December 10.
The charges were framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, and not fewer than 12 strokes of the cane.
