Police arrest 12 individuals following a violent brawl at Melor Public Market, with a 19-year-old woman reporting assault.
KOTA BHARU: Police have arrested twelve individuals in connection with a riot at Melor Public Market.
The arrests of five men and seven women followed a police report lodged by a 19-year-old woman.
She claimed to have been assaulted by another woman in her 20s during an incident yesterday afternoon.
Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud said the altercation also involved family members of both parties.
“The complainant suffered injuries on her whole body and the cause of the incident is still being investigated,” he stated.
The case is being probed under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
All those arrested, aged between their 20s and 50s, will be taken to the Kota Bharu Magistrate’s Court for a remand application.
