A 62-year-old man arrested over the Desa Palma explosion is remanded for a week as police investigate under multiple charges including attempted murder
SEREMBAN: A man arrested in connection with an explosion in Desa Palma, Nilai, has been remanded for a week until Jan 3.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the remand order against the 62-year-old man was issued at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for injuries.
The remand will facilitate investigations under Sections 307 and 435 of the Penal Code, and Section 4 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
Alzafny said the man, who suffered burns on his face, body, hands and feet, was arrested in the Batang Benar area at 4.15 pm yesterday.
A motorcycle believed to have been used by him was also seized.
The suspect, known as ‘Ayang’, is believed to possess technical knowledge and skills in making explosive materials.
This is based on the discovery of devices and equipment seized at his rented house.
On Dec 22, police found objects suspected to be improvised explosive devices following the explosion incident in Desa Palma.
They had received a public report stating that an object had exploded and nails were scattered in the area at 7.08 am.
