Police arrest a 26-year-old babysitter suspected of abusing infants aged six to nine months at a childcare centre in Alam Indah, Cheras

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a babysitter suspected of abusing infants at a childcare centre in Alam Indah, Cheras.

Cheras district police chief ACP Aidil Bolhassan said the 26-year-old local woman was arrested on Dec 16.

He confirmed that three police reports were filed regarding the incident.

Investigations found only one suspect was involved in the alleged abuse of infants aged six to nine months.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

Media reports cited a traumatised mother after CCTV footage showed her six-month-old being thrown, rolled and slapped by a childcare worker.

The footage sparked public outcry and concern over the incident.

There were also allegations that several other infants at the day care centre were abused.
