The third wave of flooding in Terengganu has ended with the closure of the final three evacuation centres, allowing residents to return home.
KUALA TERENGGANU: The third wave of flooding in Terengganu has ended with the closure of the last three temporary evacuation centres.
The centres at Sekolah Kebangsaan Chendering, SK Tok Jembal and SK Kompleks Mengabang Telipot were closed at 4 pm today.
Fair weather allowed residents to clean their homes and return to their residences.
Continuous heavy rain last Friday forced nearly 500 residents in three districts to evacuate to four shelters.
The Terengganu State Disaster Management Committee remains on standby for any recurrence of flooding.
The Northeast Monsoon has yet to end, according to the committee.
The first major flood episode began on November 22, displacing over 10,000 victims before subsiding on December 2.
A second wave of flooding then affected six districts from December 14 to 21.
