UN Security Council to hold emergency meeting on Israel’s Somaliland recognition

The UN Security Council will hold an emergency session on Monday to discuss Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, citing threats to international peace.

NEW YORK: The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency session on Monday evening to discuss Israel’s recognition of Somaliland.

The meeting will address Israel’s move to recognise the Somaliland region in Somalia as an independent country.

It will be convened under the agenda item “Threats to international peace and security.”

The council is also scheduled to hold a separate session on the situation in the occupied Golan Heights.

This session will include a briefing on the report of the United Nations secretary-general regarding the international force operating in the area.
