Johor PN chairman Sahruddin Jamal resigns shortly after Muhyiddin announces departure as PN chairman.
PETALING JAYA: In the aftermath of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation, Johor Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal decided to follow suit by stepping down from his post in the opposition coalition.
The former Johor menteri besar and Bukit Kepong assemblyman announced his decision to resign as Johor PN chairman in a Facebook post today.
“I hereby resign as Perikatan Nasional Johor chairman. Losing the MB post (previously), I was fine — resigning as PN chairman makes me even happier,” he said.

In a separate post, Sahruddin reflected on the coalition’s past losses, citing the fall of several key leadership positions.
“We lost the prime minister’s post, the Johor menteri besar post, and the Perak menteri besar post. We remain calm,” he said.
Sahruddin, a Bersatu leader, served as Johor menteri besar from April 2019 to Feb 2020, before the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government at the federal level.
His resignation comes shortly after Muhyiddin announced that he will step down as PN chairman, effective Jan 1, 2026.
