Four DOSM officers gain globally recognised CDMP credential, boosting the department’s data governance and integration capabilities for evidence-based policy.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Department of Statistics Malaysia has strengthened its data management with four officers earning the globally recognised Certified Data Management Professional credential.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the certification equips officers with global expertise to empower DOSM’s role as the nation’s trusted statistics source.
He emphasised that strengthening data governance is essential for high-quality, standardised data throughout the statistical value chain.
The achievement supports DOSM’s data modernisation agenda through initiatives like the Statistics Data Warehouse and OpenDOSM NextGen.
Certified officers will advance data integration and improve lifecycle management across all domains.
Their expertise will contribute to more comprehensive and evidence-based policy formulation.
Mohd Uzir noted that effective data management and governance are foundational in today’s data-driven world.
A strong nation relies on a robust statistical system for effective public policy and transparent governance.
The certification also supports Malaysia’s regional leadership as it chairs the ASEAN Community Statistical System Committee.
Enhancing data governance within DOSM contributes to consistency and cooperation across ASEAN.
Malaysia recently ranked first globally in the Open Data Inventory 2024/25 report.
This marks a significant leap from its 67th position in the previous assessment.
