A Malaysian Army corporal is in stable condition after a hard landing during parachute training in Melaka, with a board of inquiry established to investigate.

MELAKA: A Malaysian Army corporal was injured during a parachute training exercise in Melaka last Sunday.

Corporal Syed Mohd Azayuzil Afifi Syed Mohd Aziz, 32, from the Special Warfare Training Centre (PULPAK), is in stable condition at Hospital Besar Melaka.

The incident occurred at about 6.40 pm during a free-fall jump as part of preparations for the TDM 60th Anniversary Show.

Initial investigations found a sudden change in wind direction during the final landing phase caused the hard landing.

Medical officers provided immediate emergency treatment before the soldier was rushed to hospital.

The army stated that the welfare of the corporal and his family is a priority, with all necessary assistance being provided.

A board of inquiry has been established to determine the detailed cause and improve safety procedures.

The public is urged to pray for the soldier’s recovery and refrain from speculation.

Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari visited the soldier in hospital, stating he sustained a fractured right rib and a neck injury.

A video circulating on social media showed the hard landing during the training at Padang Encore, Klebang.
