Melaka JPJ seizes 6 luxury vehicles in Op Luxury crackdown

Melaka JPJ seizes six luxury cars for offences like expired road tax and suspended licences, warning owners are not exempt from enforcement.

MELAKA: The Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized six luxury vehicles in a state-wide operation since August.

Melaka JPJ director Siti Zarina Mohd Yusop said the vehicles were confiscated for offences including expired road tax and invalid insurance.

Further inspection revealed one seized Mercedes-Benz was driven by an individual with a suspended driving licence.

“This is a serious offence that not only violates the law, but also endangers the safety of other road users,” she said in a statement.

Siti Zarina stressed that JPJ takes driving without valid qualifications seriously.

She emphasised that owning a luxury vehicle does not exempt anyone from enforcement action.

“Firm action will continue to be taken against individuals found to be driving with a suspended licence or failing to comply with licensing conditions,” she added.

The public is advised to ensure their driving licence is valid and not suspended.

They are also urged to renew their road tax and vehicle insurance to avoid harsher legal action.
