Perak state government grants vape sellers a grace period until October to cease operations, following a ban on new sales licences
IPOH: The Perak state government has given vape sellers until October this year to cease sales following a decision to ban new licences for the product.
State Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and National Integration Committee chairman Datuk A. Sivanesan said the grace period is a transitional measure to allow affected operators to prepare before the ban is fully enforced.
“We are still giving leeway until October because there are a handful of operators still holding vape sales licences that have not expired,” he said at a press conference at the Perak Darul Ridzuan building.
He expressed hope that sellers could clear their existing stock and gradually halt all sales operations.
On 1 October last year, the Perak state government announced the implementation of a ban on vape sales licences at all business premises under local authorities, effective 1 January 2026.
Sivanesan also said the state hopes the leniency given will not be misused by any vape operator to continue their business illegally.
He stated that legal action will be taken by the authorities against anyone who violates the directive.
“We have given enough space and time… I hope they understand and comply with the imposed ban for the sake of public health and community safety,” he said.
