Hosts Morocco secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Tanzania to advance to the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, with Cameroon also progressing after a late win.
BRAHIM Diaz fired hosts Morocco into the last eight of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 1-0 win over Tanzania.
The Real Madrid winger struck in the 64th minute, lashing home at the near post from an acute angle after being set up by Achraf Hakimi.
Hakimi later hit the crossbar in a far from convincing display by the 2022 World Cup semi-finalists.
The 1976 champions are now one step closer to a second African title.
Tanzania managed just one shot on target, with Mohamed Hussein denied by Morocco keeper Yassine Bounou.
In another late game, Cameroon beat South Africa 2-1 in Rabat to also move into the last eight.
Junior Tchamadeu and Christian Kofane scored in each half to send Cameroon through to the quarter-finals.
