ALOR SETAR: Police detained a 51-year-old single mother and seized drugs worth RM44,000 in a raid on a flat at Simpang Kuala, here, on Sunday.
State Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department chief Supt Abd Razak Md Zin said apart from heroin weighing 2.1kg and methamphetamine (34.5 grammes), police also seized cash, totalling RM7,059, believed to be proceeds from sale of drugs.
He said the unemployed suspect was believed to have used the flat to pack drugs as a weighing machine, sealer machine and plastics were found in the unit.
"She fled and jumped from the balcony of her flat on the first floor when confronted by police but injured her foot and was recaptured," he told a media conference at the Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters here, today.
Abd Razak said the suspect, who was from Sabah, had a 14-year-old daughter who was still schooling but was not home during the raid.
He said the suspect also had a drug-related criminal record and was detained in 2008.
"We believe she receives her supply from a syndicate and sells the drugs around the Kota Setar district and other nearby areas," he said.
He said the suspect was placed under a one-week remand until April 27 to help in investigation.
The case was investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added. – Bernama
