Special Malaysia probe team leaves for Kiev tonight

SEPANG: A special investigation team comprising 116 men will leave for Kiev, Ukraine, tonight to conduct an investigation into the crash of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH17.
Information Department director-general Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman said the team comprised the Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team as well as a medical team.
Personnel from various government departments, including the military, Civil Defence Department, police forensic team, Chemistry Department, National Security Council, Civil Aviation Department and official media will be leaving on a chartered flight at 8pm, he told the official media team to Kiev at the KL International Airport (KLIA) here today.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak vowed that Malaysia would find out precisely what had caused Flight MH17 to crash in Ukraine yesterday. The Ukrainian authorities believe the commercial airplane was shot down.
The airliner confirmed on Friday that MH17 was carrying 283 passengers and 15 Malaysian crew members. The Boeing 777-200 aircraft was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur and was scheduled to arrive in the Malaysian capital at 6.10 am (Malaysian time) today. – Bernama
