National Day babies joy

PETALING JAYA: A total of 67 Merdeka babies were born today, consisting of 30 girls and 37 boys, at private and government hospitals in the Klang Valley and Ipoh from midnight until 2pm.
The first baby, a boy, was born at the stroke of midnight at Kuala Lumpur Hospital, much to the delight of the attending doctor and staff.
The boy's parents, Hairul Heary Md Salleh, 31, and Dzarayil Isyqi Abdu Bakar, 30, said they never expected their baby to be born on such an auspicious day.
According to hospital staff, Dzarayil delivered her baby two weeks earlier than expected.
Three boys were born at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, with the first one arriving at 7.20am.
Ampang Hospital recorded 15 births, of which 11 were girls and four boys. The first was born at 12.28am.
At the Selayang Hospital, 10 boys and two girls were born while a baby girl was born at the KPJ Tawakkal Specialist Hospital.
Assunta hospital recorded only one Merdeka baby at press time.
In Ipoh, 15 Merdeka babies were born at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital as of 1.25pm today.
In Alor Star, 10 babies, six of them boys, were born at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital as of 10am today.
