Speaker admonishes MPs on meeting ethics

KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia today admonished members of Parliament who often do not comply with meeting ethics during the question-and-answer session.
Pandikar Amin, who previously had several times reminded MPs to only ask one additional question which was short and concise, finally became furious when the reminder was not adhered to or rather seemed not to be comprehensible.
"I want the honourable members (Yang Berhormat) to show some cooperation. It's almost an hour, but the number of questions answered is just two-and-a half. I often remind you all not to ask additional questions that are long.
"The minister answering the question should only answer the question asked and to the point," he said.
Only one-and-a-half hours are allocated for the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat that is from 10am to 11.30am.
The reprimand was made during Datuk Abdul Rahman Mohamad's (BN-Lipis) turn to raise questions about the Public Service Commission's online examination system, but he asked additional questions with a long 'opening' as if debating.
According to the rules of the meeting, the Speaker may allow up to three additional questions, as long as they are related to the original question posed. – Bernama
