Detached lorry tyre kills motorcyclist

KUANTAN: A security guard riding a motorcycle was killed when he was struck by a tyre which came off a speeding trailer lorry at the 10km Jalan Kuantan bypass, Pelabuhan near Gebeng last night.
Mohd Amran Asparudin, 25, died on the spot in the incident about 11.30pm. He sustained head and body injuries.
The victim, who worked at the Eco Tower in Gebeng near here, was travelling from Pelabuhan towards Kuantan when the left rear tyre of the Pelabuhan-bound lorry came off.
Pahang police contingent headquarters traffic staff officer DSP Mohd Noor Yusof Ali said today, the tyre hurtled towards the opposite lane, fatally hitting Mohd Amran.
He said the detached tyre was found in a drain.
Mohd Noor said the body was sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here. – Bernama
