Puteri Umno to work on strengthening movement

KUALA LUMPUR: The approach adopted by the fire ants will be followed by Puteri Umno in efforts to strengthen the movement in future besides following the noble traits of nine Muslim heroines named 'Siti'.
Puteri Umno Chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the fire ants, although small in size, have painful bites, work as a team and are hard-working besides not knowing the meaning of 'despair' which will also be the approach taken by Puteri Umno in drawing up its strategy and setting up the 'fire ant force'.
"The ants are loyal to their leader and will defend their 'home' from any intrusion. They will never lose their way as they build their own route network and are smart in drawing up their strategy.
"This is the Puteri Umno force. Quietly, we draw up our strategy. We repel all (malicious) propaganda and slanders in the social website," she said in her speech.
Mas Ermieyati said they have no problem in forming a strong party machinery as there are many professionals choosing to join Puteri Umno in its struggles.
She wants all members of the wing to uphold strongly to the spirit of 'P.U.T.E.R.I', that is, 'Pejuang, Unik, Tekad, Elit, Realistik dan Intelek' (Fighter, Unique, Willpower, Elite, Realistic and Intellect).
The Member of Parliament for Masjid Tanah said Puteri Umno members never have any doubt in the struggle to defend the religion and race, by emulating the traits of the nine Muslim heroines named 'Siti'.
The nine women named Siti were the wife of Prophet Muhamad SAW, Siti Khadijah who was loyal and Siti Aishah who helped in missionary activities; Siti Fatimah (Prophet Muhamad SAW who had good manners); Siti Hajar (the wife of Prophet Ibrahim A.S who was very obedient to her husband) and Siti Mariam (the mother of Prophet Isa A.S who protected her self respect.
Other examples were Siti Asiah (wife of a Pharoah who was not afraid of any test); Siti Aminah (the mother of Prophet Muhamad SAW who taught him to become a good human being); Siti Zubaidah (wife of the caliph, Harun Al-Rashid who was a philantrophist) and Siti Muti'ah (a loyal wife and the first women to go to heaven).
Meanwhile Mas Ermieyati has asked for the people not to compare her to her predecessors, especially the first Puteri chief, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
Mas Ermieyati, who took on the post in the past year, said it was inappropriate to compare leadership styles as the era and challenges were different for both.
"Azalina faced a different set of challenges then because the Puteri movement was newly established. All eyes were on Puteri when it was first set up because many wanted to see its role.
"The wing has a far bigger challenge today. Puteri Umno is now made up of new faces (about 80%) who are still green and who do not fully understand the party's struggles," she said during the Puteri Umno assembly.
Mas Ermieyati said she needed to clarify this matter because her previous approach of keeping silent led to the public misperception that she was not doing anything. Therefore, she urged the people to be fair and give her time to prove her capability in leading the Puteri movement. – Bernama
