Car workshop owner losses RM300,000 in fire

    MALACCA: The owner of a car workshop in Kampung Padang, Jalan Pokok Mangga, suffered losses amounting to about RM300,000 in a fire yesterday.
    David Heng, 30, said he received a call from a neighbour about the fire at 2am and on arriving at the scene, the blaze which was at its peak had destroyed two one-ton lorries, three motorcycles and a car.
    Meanwhile, state fire and rescue department public relations officer Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid said 20 firemen in three engines managed to douse the blaze at around 4.29am.
    On another incident, Hafidzatullah said a mini market in Tanjung Kling, here, was gutted by fire.
    Firemen who rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at about 5am brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes. – Bernama
