Police bust two drug labs, seize drugs worth RM520,000

    GEORGE TOWN: Police scored a breakthrough with the seizure of drugs worth RM520,000 from raids on two mini drug labs at Bukit Gambir and Datuk Keramat late Tuesday.
    Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said police detained a man in his 30s in the first raid on an apartment unit in Bukit Gambir at 10pm.
    He said police personnel from the district Narcotics Department found 15,151gm of heroin, 1,138gm of heroin base, 25,866gm of caffeine, a few bottles containing chemicals and drug processing apparatus in the unit.
    Mior said police detained two men in their 30s in the second raid on a condominium unit in Times Square at about 11.15pm and seized 1,000gm of heroin and a few drug processing tools
    He said all three suspect have been remanded under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 to assist in investigations.
    " The seized drugs were meant for local distribution in the state, " he said during a press conference after attending the 208th Police Day celebrations at the district headquarters here yesterday.
    In another development, Mior said police believe they have solved 17 motorcycle theft cases in the district with the arrest of a 19-year-old man at about 3am on March 9 in Pulau Tikus.
    "We also recovered 10 stolen motorcycles, " he said, adding that the case is being investigated for motorcycle theft under the Penal Code.
