BAGAN DATOH: There would be no changes in the state Umno leadership in the country following the Cabinet reshuffle which saw vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi appointed as the new Deputy Prime Minister.
"All of them would be retained and the position of the leaders need not worry about their position," he said.
Ahmad Zahid who is Bagan Datoh MP replaced Deputy Umno President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin which also saw several ministers dropped and new ones appointed.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak met all state Umno liaison committee chairmen to brief them on the latest political development on Friday.
Ahmad Zahid who is Bagan Datoh MP was speaking to reporters after chairing the division meeting here today. The meeting was officiated by Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.
"The Cabinet reshuffle is the prerogative of the Prime Minister and it is a national agenda," said Ahmad Zahid. "I was at the meeting and the issue of change of leadership at state level and the issue was never raised.
"I also deny there will be changes in Perak ... we have full confidence in Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir's leadership."
Zambry is also the state Umno liaison committee chairman.
He was responding to speculation that Perak and Negri Sembilan Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan would be removed from their party posts.
Mohamad is also the Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar.
It was also speculated that Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Adnan would be dropped as Mentri Besar.
Ahmad Zahid also welcomed and thanked Muhyiddin's commitment to Umno.

"Based on the speeches and statements he wants to strengthen the party and will not be joining any opposition party.
Meanwhile Ahmad Zahid also hit out at political analyst views on the naming of some of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) members as deputy ministers as incorrect.
"They claimed that it was a planned move to appoint the members to the administration of the government. The Prime Minister looks at the ability of the individual who is able to serve effectively rather then making the appointment as an agenda for their own gain.
"We should not deny the rights and capability of an individual to serve in the Cabinet and other administration," he added.
Zahid also questioned the urge from certain quarters for the PAC meeting to be held even without a chairman.
"PAC cannot convene any meetings without a chairman ... let the appointment be made first. Otherwise they have an agenda for it."
PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed was appointed as the Deputy Home Minister during the recent Cabiner reshuffle.
