KUALA LUMPUR: A post mortem report on the 19-year-old woman who was found dead in an apartment in Cheras Utama, Cheras, yesterday found that she had been abused for some time.

Cheras district police chief ACP Chong Kok Sin said there were serious swelling on her face and body, as well as wounds, believed to have been inflicted with a hot iron, on her legs.

He said a former boyfriend of the victim was detained yesterday to assist police investigation.

The man, who is unemployed and with previous records for drug-related cases, will be in remand until Nov 27, said Chong, when contacted by Bernama.

Police found the woman sprawled on the floor of the apartment at about 5.10pm yesterday following a tip-off.
It was learnt that the victim had stayed at the apartment with her boyfriend, but left the place last October following an argument.

However, she returned to the apartment last Wednesday, with a swollen face and cuts on her legs, but declined to be sent for treatment when her ex-boyfriend offered to.

The woman claimed that she was assaulted by her new boyfriend and that he was now after her.

Police are looking for a man and a woman to assist in the investigation. — Bernama
