KUALA LUMPUR: The Cheras-Kajang Highway, Kuala Lumpur and Kajang bound, will be closed for 14 nights starting today until Dec 30 for the painting of SBG's pier 55 - pier 57, a special crossing for the Mass Rapit Transit (MRT) construction.

The closure will begin from 11pm to 6am, and two lanes will be made available for motorists from KL to Kajang, said MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd in a statement here today.

It said as an alternative, motorists could take the slip road to Bukit Dukung/Taman Koperasi Cuepacs and use Jalan Cheras Lama to get to Kajang.

The road closure will affect 400m of the Cheras-Kajang Highway road from KM 18.2 to KM 17.8, and motorists from Kajang heading towards KL can turn into the slip road to Jalan Kampung Bukit Dukung and turn left to get back onto Cheras-Kajang (Grandsaga Highway) to head towards KL.

Meanwhile, there would be a 16-night closure for the Pekan Batu 11/Balakong road for the same reason starting from tomorrow until Dec 31, between 11pm to 5am, it said.
During the closure from Dec 16 until Dec 23, motorists from Pekan Batu 11/Balakong heading towards KL/Cheras will be directed to turn right into Cheras-Kajang Highway (Kajang bound) and make a U-turn at the flyover at the Sungai Long interchange.

"Alternatively, motorists on the Cheras-Kajang Highway may opt for the Bukit Dukung U-turn route to head back to KL/Cheras.

However, starting from Dec 24 until Dec 31, both the right-most lanes near the traffic light junction of Pekan Batu 11/Balakong (Kajang and Balakong bound) will be closed for motorists with one lane being made available for each direction.

There would be a road closure in front of Pekan Batu 11 MRT Station at KM 15.5 until KM 17, Cheras-Kajang Highway on Dec 18 until Dec 31 from midnight until 5am, intermittently.

"During this closure, motorists from Sungai Long/Kajang heading towards Pekan Batu 11/Balakong are to remain on the Cheras-Kajang Highway before making a U-turn at Bandar Tun Hussein Onn intersection, and then turn right to Pekan Batu 11/Balakong," said the statement. — Bernama
